The Story of the Easter Kitty

The Clarks have two of my beloved retired cats - Mollei and Whirl A Way. Then Anita decided to give her husband a surprise Easter present. The story of these cats and the Easter Kitty are below. What a pleasant surprise to get this wonderful note. When you get something like this it needs to be shared!!

Hi Pat! I hope all is well with you. Time is really flying by. I thought I had emailed you the week after I got Rory, but I found the letter in my drafts folder so I'm very sorry about that. I completely forgot to send it! That little boy was a great surprise for Tom. Tom was already back from golfing when I got home that day, so I moved Rory from his carrier to that basket I brought to your house. I put Rory on the kitchen table and told Tom that the Easter bunny must have come early since he left us something. It brought quite a laugh. Tom carried Rory around all day and sat with Rory on his lap. Rory looks just like his daddy so Tom was so excited. One day, Tom had Whirlie on the recliner between his legs, Mollei on his lap, and Rory on his upper chest. I really wish I had my camera on me that afternoon! Rory has adjusted quite well. He sleeps on Tom's pillow some nights or right next to me other nights. Mollei and Whirlie did well with the addition. They just don't like to run and play all day like Rory, but our young rescue cat I call Abby is his friend. She mothers him, cleans his belly and face and they run through the house off and on all day and night. Abby is full size and weight at 6.5 lbs. and Rory is now taller and weighs more than her at 7 lbs.

Rory has had a few visits to the veterinarian for initial check up and then shots. He played with the doctor's stethoscope and jumped all over the counter, exam table, and floor in the office. As with Mollei and Whirlie, all the staff want to come to the exam room when we're there. I'll have him neutered when we return from vacation.

Rory already had his first bath, just to get him used to it. He sure did fuss at me, but I'm sure it will get better with time. He still hates nail trims and doesn't want to sit still long enough for brushing. Ah, the energy of youth. Actually, he loves to chase the hair balls around the room as I brush the other cats! It's been many years since I've had a kitten. The energy they have is amazing!

We took the cats to Gloucester for a weekend camping trip in May and Rory did just fine. We prepared for the trip by "camping" in the driveway a few weekend nights before the trip. By the time we actually took all the cats out in the RV, Rory treated it like it was just another room in the house.

He's also been to see my dad twice in Myrtle Beach. We put up a baby gate on the deck and let him come outside with us. He and Whirlie took turns outside. I not sure which one of them enjoyed that more. Rory does love his grandpa Whirlie! They both like to hang out by the "water cooler" after meals. Speaking of meals, Rory loves the Earthborn Holistic cat food. They have a beef variety called Ranch House Stew that he and Whirlie gobble so fast I just can't believe it. Mollei won't eat the beef, so it's a boys meal. She's a tuna or salmon kind of girl.

We will soon be taking our vacation in Key West again this year so I'll be sending pictures. I've been wondering how big Rory's siblings are getting, so it was nice to see the picture of Dot and Page's kitty on Facebook yesterday. Thanks for letting us adopt Rory. He's a gem and love him to pieces just like Mollei and Whirlie.

Again, so sorry for the delay in writing. I know you've been busy with all your kitties, the new kitten litters, and Mafatu too. Hope your summer is going well. I'll talk to you soon.

Hugs from Tom and I and all the kitties,

Anita
